Roadtrip for Dad to Keawe's Baptism

We got to take dad for a road trip for a few hours to attend Keawe's baptism.
They don't normally transport patients to family activities but we thought,
it wouldn't hurt to ask. The sweet transport lady, Sheri said that she would come in and take him.
Dad was so cute and so excited to get all dressed up.
This was such a great activity for dad, he hadn't been to a family activity in months.

So of course, everyone wanted to take pictures with our special guest visitor!!!

Trevor loves his grandpa so much and it's so hard for him to see grandpa like this, but he wants to do
all he can to help him. He came and helped get grandpa dressed in his white shirt and tie and
did grandpa's tie up for him. He also helped the nurses move grandpa into his wheelchair,
good thing he was there, Trevor just about picked him up.
He loves him so much!!
I love my dad so much!!! He was so cute, he kept wanting me to "Tweek" him.
He has bedsores and his pants would hurt him and he would need to be adjusted,
so he refers to it as "Tweeking".
Max and I would take him a side and pretty much lift him by his pants.
Then he would say, "Ohhh that's much better"
(But only for 2 minutes, then he wants to be "tweeked" again.)
Cecilee is so glad to be home from Kansas to spend time with grandpa.
Joe and Janette's family wanted a picture with mom and dad.
Dad was the celebrity for the day, it was so nice to have him out of the facility for a few hours.
He loved being in his NICE clothes.  He looked so handsome.
The 2 Clay's - I never realized how much Clay Jr. looked like dad, he is a spitnu image.

Dad is Moved to Kindred Rehab

Dad is doing better and will be moved to another rehab. He wanted to go back to Coral Desert, they were nice enough to keep all of his stuff there with the intention of having him come back, but after his stroke they sent two of their therapist over to see what his abilities were. They ended up denying him to go back to Coral Desert. It was so sad to watch my dad's reaction. He said,
"They don't want me? Did you call Tony?"
We explained that they don't have the equipment that can help you.
Then he said, "I will buy the lift for them."  He really wanted to go back to Coral Desert.
Mom, Clay, Max & Joe went to visit the other rehab's around town.
They decided on Kindred, it was older, but the staff was very nice.
This was dad's first day arriving at Kindred and getting settled into bed.
Then the pic with him in the BYU shirt, was his first day of therapy.
He was given so many different drugs that he was always so tired.
The next day he was wanting fried eggs and turkey bacon.
So my mom called me and I made some and ran it over to him.
He was soooo excited and loved every bite.

Dad's Feeding Tube

Dad had a feeding tube from the 2nd day in ICU.
He absolutely HATED it, even thought he's smiling in this picture.
He couldn't blow his nose with it in and it just got in his way.
He always said that he was embarrassed when people would come and visit him.
 YES, He's a little Vain!!!
He was trying to tell Cecilee to help him take it out and get him a hamburger.

A Typical Sunday Evening

UPDATE on Dad: He's making a little bit of progress everyday. He's still exhausted, he doesn't get a whole lot of sleep with the nurses and Dr's coming in frequently. They said, "You come to a hospital to get treatment, NOT REST!" I think that's part of treatment. But he started speech therapy yesterday and she had him using his LOUD VOICE. We were out in the hall and heard him YELL his numbers counting to 10. It's the little things that make you happy to hear something that we always took for granted, his voice. We loved hearing him use his LOUD VOICE. He recognizes that he has a left side, with the type of stroke he had, that's great news!!!! He loves the visits with those that stop by, but sometimes he sleeps through them. He has sat in the Cardiac chair for 4-5 hours at time in the last 3 days and its helping his lungs a lot. We love that our dad is a FIGHTER and continues to set such a great example for us.
Dad meeting Baby Tia for the first time, grandchild #26

Hannemann and Trevor taking care of grandpa

kKalani and his family made the drive from California to come and see Dad. Kalani got off work at 2:00am and drove from Fontana and arrived at 8:00am to see Dad. He said that Dad has always been such a great example to him and that he loved him so much. He just had a strong feeling to get to Utah and come and see him.

The Horlacher's always make it a point to stop by the hospital, rehab, house to visit mom and dad.
The Escher's also came by to see Dad and give him their LOVE and concern. My dad is so LOVED!
Some of the CRAZY monkeys from the hall.  This is what the hospital had to put up with every Sunday. We had family all over the hallway outside of dads door. We LOVED just being together and being close to mom and dad.
Dad with BOTH Tia's.All of the GRANDKIDS Love Grandpa and LOVE to give him kisses.

As we were all going to our cars, I looked up to the floor that we left, knowing the the nurses were glad to see us leave the hospital, I saw my INCREDIBLE mom standing watching us from the window. This just broke my heart. I just love this woman sooooo much and LOVE the example she has set for all of her kids in the LOVE and SERVICE that she continues to give to our Dad.
Their LOVE has only gotten stronger through all of these trials.
